Our former President passes away...

Dear Members,
It is with huge sadness I announce the news of Jimmy Mottram's death.
He passed away last Friday, at home, with his family in attendance. He was 84.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife Val, daughters Margaret and Kathryn, and his two sons, Jimmy Jnr and Joe.
Funeral arrangements will be announced presently.
As almost everyone who has been involved in Hyde Cricket and Squash Club will know Jimmy was an immense figure. As a player he undertook almost every role, and captained our second team for several seasons.
Having swapped the dressing room for the General Committee room, he had even greater influence, as Chairman and President. He was one of the great pioneers who in the early days organised fundraisers in order to finance the building of the current pavilion. Including bar area and changing rooms, with showers, it was a real game changer, replacing the old black shed located at the far side of the ground.
It is no exaggeration to say the current club owes Jimmy a great debt. Without his charismatic approach, involving others through his inimitably persuasive and jolly manner, our club would be nothing like the success it is today.
Jimmy was one of the true fore fathers, who along with the likes of Albert Hill, Geoff Oldham and Howard Kerr, are responsible for so much good about our club.
More than his contribution to Hyde Cricket, Jimmy was a colourful and hugely popular member of the community with business contacts far and wide, through his insurance company, based in Stockport. And a family man, first and foremost.
I've already received several messages about Jimmy. As one, they all reflect on what was a happy life full of interesting anecdotes, funny stories and of a lovely, lovely man, who always had a smile and a friendly word to share.
Rest awhile Jimmy.
From all your friends at Hyde Cricket and Squash Club.
