Hyde CSC are pleased to announce Tom Partridge will take over the vacant 1stXI captaincy.

Tom will become the youngest captain ever to lead the 1stXI at 22 years old.

Tom started his career at Charlesworth CC, in the Derbyshire & Cheshire League. After moving to Hyde in 2013 Tom’s raise to the top has been rapid. Having been a prolific run scoring in the 3s and 2s Partridge was given his 1stXI debut in 2016 against Chester Boughton Hall, he went on to make 55. Playing his first full season at the top level in 2017 Tom was one of few positives that came out the relegation season, finishing the campaign just shy of 500 runs. It was the season just gone where he really stood up for the 1stXI, scoring 754 runs with an average of 40 which eventually won him the batting award, the player of year and a call up for the Cheshire Development XI.

Speaking on his appointment Partridge said “It’s hard to put into words how I feel, it will be an absolute honour to captain at this great club. I’m very lucky to inherit a great group of lads both on and off the field and all credit has to go to Daniel Berry as this is all down to his hard work and dedication throughout his 6 years as captain. Next year will be a huge challenge for us all and as a group we're all very excited to be back in premier league. Its clear we have a point to prove and the hard work starts now.

I would like to thank everyone at Hyde for their support, from the moment I joined it was the best decision I’ve made and I’ve loved every minute. A special thank you again has got to go to Bez (Daniel Berry) for backing me and putting me into the first team when he did which allowed me to learn from the best and come on as a player and put me in this position today.”

The Cricket Committe added “Tom has matured massively as a cricketer over the last 12 months, although not having previous experience of first team captaincy, we believe, with the support of the senior players, Tom will go onto be an successful 1st team captain for many years."
