Hyde Skipper announces his decision to emigrate....

Dear Members,

Danny Berry, our most successful captain, has announced his intention to emigrate.

In an email sent today to the General Committee, he said;
"As most of you know by now these next two games will sadly be my last for the club. My family and I have decided to move to Perth as of early next year. "

He also made the point his decision had been made more difficult because of his close ties with the club and last year's relegation from the Premier League...

"This obviously isn’t an easy decision for many reasons, my love for Hyde CSC being high on the list, but I’ve always promised myself & Krystle I would give it a go. We did plan to go in November 2017 but after suffering relegation I was never going to leave the club where it didn’t belong. "

As the club's greatest ever captain, with multiple Premier League and Cheshire cup triumphs, Dan will go down in our 117 year history as a true legend and wonderful servant.

He has been a colossal leader and the scorer of thousands of runs, so often when most needed, such as his recent match winning innings of 81 not out at title rivals Upton.

I'm sure much more will be written and said about Dan's stellar career in the next few weeks, but for now it rests with me to let everyone know of his decision, and therefore ensure as many of you as possible get the chance to speak with him before he goes.

The best way to do so would be to watch him play his last two matches, starting on Saturday at Widnes, followed by our last game of the season at home to Bollington.

The Bollington match will also be notable because Cheshire County League Chairman, Dave Humpage, will present Dan with the 1st Division Champion's trophy, at about 1130 am, just before the start of what will now be a very significant game of cricket.

Afterwards we'll be hosting an end of season celebration, which I know will be a particularly emotional night in the lives of the Berry household.

It would be great to see you all there...

See you soon.

Regards

John Buckley

Secretary
