Hyde great moves to Egerton.

Dear Members,

One of Hyde's greatest ever cricketers, Jason Whittaker, has decided to leave.

Jason has informed the club of his decision to join Egerton CC.

He sited a wish to one day play cricket with his his son Joseph, who is emerging through the junior ranks at the Bolton Club.

Jason recently met with club officials to discuss his intentions and in the end decided to make the move, whilst still harbouring ambitions to continue his fine career and set new goals.

He leaves with the sincere thanks of everyone at Hyde who have enjoyed watching him play these past 8 seasons.

Jason's obvious qualities include his immense personal drive and willingness to play through injury.
During his time at Hyde he has helped the club to both the Cheshire Cup and Premier League titles twice, and was instrumental in returning the club to the Premiership in 2018, by winning the Championship, following relegation the previous year.
Even at the age of 50, he continues to set himself new targets, and has stated his wish to continue to play cricket to a high standard, especially with the chance of playing for England Over 50's, for whom he made his debut in 2021, versus Scotland.

Jason's figures speak for themselves.

Since joining Hyde in 2014 he has bowled 2043 overs and taken 399 wickets at the impressive average of 17.12.

He has also made 1385 runs, with a highest score of 48.

Thank you, Weishy, from all your friends at Hyde Cricket and Squash Club.
