Hyde 1st Team Lose Opener

Hyde's 1st team opening game in the first division ended in defeat on Tuesday night in front of a packed balcony.

George Parker 0 - 3 Patrick Rooney
Julian Thomlinson 3 - 0 Ryan Atherton
Josh Taylor 3 - 2 Paul McDonald
Steve Gregory 1- 3 Tim Herron
Steve White 2 - 3 Mike McDonald

Steve White was first on and lost a tight game 3-2 against Mike McDonald., Steve running out of steam in the 5th.
Steve Gregory lost 3-1 against Tim Herron, the first three games could have gone either way but unfortunately for Hyde Steve only managed to nick one if them.
Josh Taylor beat Paul McDonald 3-2 in his first game for Hyde. Despite Paul's deft touch and winners at the front of the court Josh picked enough of them up to overcome his opponent in another close game.
Julian Thomlison beat Ryan Atherton 3-0, also in his first game for the club. A reasonably close first game with some long rallies and great retrieving from Julian took it's tole on Ryan and Julian took the second and third reasonably comfortably.
George Parker lost to Patrick Rooney 3-0. In what ended up being the decisive moment of the evening George had to retire after the first game due to injury. George being bitterly disappointed to lose his first game for Hyde in such a fashion.

Despite the disappointment of losing the guys will take heart from such a close game against a decent side and belief that they can play in this division and do well will be high.

Next week they make the short trip to Didsbury to play The Northern, who could include James Willstrop and Marwan Elshorbagy in their ranks.
