Dave Green played his first game of the season for the first team and the step up in standard and speed of the game showed as Andrew Jagger took the first game with relative ease. As the match went on Dave adapted to the fast pace of the game and started to find a footing but never quite enough to take a game and eventually lost 3-0.

Steve White played his opponent from the previous season's play-off, Steve Cummings, and was hopeful of a first win after a close game last season. However, another performance littered with unforced errors saw him disappointingly lose 3-0.

Josh Tylor was up against Michael Alexander with the team needing him to win to keep them in the match. Josh didn't disappoint, taking the ball early and looking to attack at every opportunity he took the game 3-0.

Julian Tomlinson played Guhan Senthilkumar. This was another physically tough game for Julian with some extraordinarily long rallies. Both players looking to extend rallies waiting for the other to make a mistake. The first two games we particularly brutal with both players take one each but Julian's retrieving again started to take its toll on Guhan and he eventually ran out the 3-1 winner.

So 2-2 and George Parker back for Hyde at one against Lewis Doughty. Although the first was relatively close George never looked in trouble winning it 11-8. In truth the next two were very comfortable for him and his class showed through winning the final two games 3-11 and 5-11.

Hyde travel to the Wirral next week to play Neston, another battle of the promoted clubs. Games start at 7:30pm and all support is welcome
