Bowdon Squash 1st Team 5 - 0 Hyde CSC Squash 1st Team

Hyde Cricket and Squash Club's Squash 1st team made the short trip to Bowdon on Tuesday. A depleted Hyde, without their usual number 1 and 2, found Bowdon to be too strong for them on the night losing 5-0 with only Steve Gregory picking up a game for Hyde.

Bowdon 1 2 3 4 5 Hyde CSC
1 Adam Murrills 3 11-7 11-8 11-3 0 Joshua Taylor
2 Peter Billson 3 11-8 11-7 11-8 0 Jack Alcock
3 Matt Lowery 3 7-11 11-8 11-7 11-5 1 Steve Gregory
4 Nicholas Murrills 3 11-9 11-2 12-10 0 Steve White
5 Chris Matthews 3 11-2 11-2 18-16 0 Carlton Oldham

As usual Steve White was on first for Hyde against Nick Murrils. Steve struggled to cope with Nick's consistency and although the first and third games were reasonably close Nick always had the advantage and Steve lost 3-0 getting the night off to a poor start for Hyde.

Carlton Oldham was next on court against Chris Matthews. Carlton played his worst squash to date for the first team and was not in the first two games at all. Carlton rallied in the third set though and could have taken it but Chris's experience took him through to inflict a 3-0 loss on Carlton.

Steve Gregory took to the court against Matt Lowery looking to keep the match alive for Hyde. Steve set off well taking the first set. Matt upped his game though and played solid squash with few errors allowing him to take control and win the next three games, Steve losing 3-0.

Josh Taylor was next on against the world ranked 129, Adam Murrills. The matched started with the longest rally of the season with Adam in full control. Josh never really managed to wrestle that control back and despite playing well didn't have any answers to Adams speed and vollying, losing 3-0.

Last on was Jack Allcock against Peter Billson. Jack struggled with his movement on the night and was simply not playing accurate enough shots allowing Peter to display his control and touch when taking the ball in short so another 3-0 loss for Hyde.

In truth Hyde wouldn't have been expecting a win against a strong Bowdon side, who are second in the league, but a return of just one point will have been disappointing for them. They will look to bounce back from two heavy defeats when the play Alderley Edge at home next Tuesday. Games start at 7:30pm and all support is welcome
