HYDE 3RD XI REACH FINALS DAY WITH EXELLENT DISPLAY'S FROM THE 2 YOUNG GUNS PARTRIDGE & PODMORE

Thursday night saw the 3rd XI’s biggest game in a few years where we had the chance to make it through to the T20 finals day and become the 1st 3rd XI team at Hyde to make finals day. I took to the field with Sales captain to yet again lose the toss, to my surprise he elected to field to which he said after the match was the wrong decision.
I opened the batting with Young Tom Partridge & James Gaskin who got us away to a very good start, unfortunately along the way James picked up an injury to his back which very much hampered his batting and was out in the 9 over C&B for 23. By this point Tom was on a very good 38 however the next 3 wickets of Ben Turner, Martin Coyne & Jason Ebbrell fell very cheaply with only 8 runs scored between us. Matt Knowles then took to the crease that provided Tom with some much needed support. Matt only face 7 balls but this was crucial as he was able to keep the inform Partridge on strike. Tom quickly race through his half century with an elegant cover drive, Matt finally lost his wicket leaving Tom on 81 not out. Sonny Bramwell took over from Matt helping to give the strike to Tom who finally raised his bat for his Ton with a delicate little cut behind point. The next ball saw a tired shot from Tom and he was C&B for 100. Charlie Hewitt and Sonny finished the innings on 7 (Sonny) & 6 (Charlie) not out. Final score was 160/6 in our 20 overs.
I opened the bowling with Neil Koehler & Jason Ebbrell both of whom bowled there overs straight through. Jason bowled with some very good pace and control leaving him with figure of 1-16 from 4 overs, Neil started the demise of Sale with 2 early wickets albeit I think he got away with 2 of them (should have got the treatment) but wickets are wickets as they say. Neil’s figures were very impressive of 4 for 10 from 4 overs. Then on came Debutant young Steven Podmore only 12 years of age, what a talent this kid is, his attitude and professionalism was very good which was shown through his cricketing ability. He bowled his delicate off spin with the control of a senior player, and for that the batsman could not get near him. Steven ended up with figures of 3 for 7 from 4 overs, this was complemented by the inform Matt Knowles who just keeps on taking wickets for little runs Matt took us home with figures of 2 for 3 from 3.4 overs
