Dear Members,
We are delighted to announce that Charlie Barnard, aged 17 years, has been selected by Lancashire to join their Academy.
Charlie follows in the footsteps of our own Keshana Fonseka, into this elite group of Lancashire's very best young players.
Kesh, has once again made it, and with Charlie, plus 11 other young players from around Lancashire, takes a place amongst the elite.
Only the very finest players, between the ages of 16 and 19, make it into this select group, where they will be closely mentored by the Lancashire coaching team, of Steve Titchard, Karl Krikken and Graham Onions.
Head of Talent Pathway, Chris Benbow, leads the group, and commented;
"Congratulations to Charlie and the rest of the group. I wish them the best of luck."
Last season Charlie rose to prominence in out first team, taking wickets with his left arm spin, and scoring runs, having moved up the batting order during the campaign.
Notably, Charlie bowled Oxton out, taking 5 for 42 from 15 overs of controlled slow bowling, and, by the end of the season was scoring runs almost at will, including a fine 76 at Chester in the final league game.
Well done Charlie.
Everyone at Hyde Cricket and Squash Club is routing for you next year, and beyond, in what will undoubtedly prove to be a rich career in the great game we all love.
Role on Summer!
