Lancashire have announced that their captain for this season’s Metro Bank One-Day squad will be George Balderson.
For the full details and to read George’s reaction to this honour here’s the link to the county’s website.
Due to George’s county commitments he rarely gets the opportunity to play for the Hyde 1st XI these days however last Saturday he was able to against Timperley. Spearheading the bowling attack he was instrumental in contributing to a flurry of wickets, including his dismissal of centurion Vaughan-Hawkins, that saw the hosts fall from a position of being 189-4 at drinks to all out for 198 just 19 balls later in their chase of Hyde’s total of 246.
Balderson returned impressive bowling figures of 5 wickets from his 10 overs, including 3 maidens, conceding just 18 runs.
Congratulations to George and his family on this well deserved recognition for his efforts in a Lancashire shirt since making his debut in 2020. Go well Balders!
